Halton Hills workshop will teach basics of skateboarding to local kids

A new program offered by Halton Hills will provide the basics of skateboarding to local preteens this summer.

The Skateboarding Basics Workshop is a two-hour program that will cover topics like skateboard terminology, how to balance and move on the board, basic equipment maintenance and park etiquette.

Please note that this program is intended for skateboards only and does not cover scooters or BMX bikes.

Safety is an integral part of this workshop. All participants must supply and wear a CSA-approved helmet as well as elbow and knee pads.

The program, open to kids ages 8 to 12, is being offered on three Saturday’s in June at various skateparks in Halton Hills.

  • Saturday, June 3, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Georgetown Skatepark, 10241 8 Line
  • Saturday, June 10, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Acton Skatepark, 415 Queen St.
  • Saturday, June 17, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Mold-Masters SportsPlex Skatepark, 221 Guelph St.
