Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette has issued a message to the community regarding the Omicron variant.

“Our priority at the Town is to keep staff and residents safe as we continue to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Bonnette in the statement, adding that he understands the community’s concerns.

“I know we are all getting weary of the escalating Covid cases and cancellations as we look to the holidays, but we need to remain vigilant and continue to pull together to help stop the spread of Omicron, the most contagious Covid variant to date.”

The Mayor confirmed that the Town is working with their regional and provincial partners to provide updated information as quickly and effectively as possible.

“I know it has been difficult and stressful for you and your families over the last few years and I want to thank every one of you for your dedication to our community,” said Bonnette.

“It’s a different world today than what I have experienced over decades as your mayor and Town business is conducted differently than in previous years. We’ve all had to adapt to constant change, and we have and for that I am thankful.”

The Mayor concluded by wishing the community a happy holiday on behalf of Town Council.

“Please be safe and remember that kindness goes a long way in difficult times.”
