Halton Hills wants more public input before putting the finishing touches on a new parkette.

Moya Johnson Parkette will be located at the corner of Mill St. and McNabb St. just northeast of downtown Georgetown.

The 0.63 hectare site is currently covered in gravel and is used as an informal parking lot.

Plans call for it to become a community recreational space with a play area, seating, and green area with plants and other vegetation.

Following the input received from the previous round of public consultation, the Town has created a refined concept design, incorporating the features that the neighbourhood identified as priorities.

Now, the Town wants residents to take part in a refined survey to provide feedback and direction on the elements and activities that will be included.

Once we’ve reviewed the results of the Refined Survey, the Town will use the neighbourhood’s preferences to finalize the design.

The parkette is named to honour long-time councillor Moya Johson. Construction on the project is expected to begin later this year.
