A driver has found themself on the wrong end of the law after speeding through a notorious area of Halton Hills.

Halton Regional Police say the New Year’s Day incident happened on 4th Line just north of Sideroad 17 west of the village of Brisbane when the driver was caught doing 142 km/h in a 60 km/h — more than twice the legal limit.

Police say the area is well-known for drivers going at high rates of speed, but on Jan. 1 officers were waiting.

We normally don’t see speeds of 142km/h in this 60 km/h zone though,” police noted on social media.

Once the vehicle was pulled over police charged the driver with various offences, impounded the vehicle and took away their licence for 30 days.

Following this incident police offered the following advice for 2023: “May we suggest a New Year’s resolution to slow down?”
