Halton Hills council recently adopted the final version of the Glen Williams Secondary Plan (GWSP) that will guide future development in the area.

The final version of this plan, which is also meant to help preserve and enhance the area’s character and natural and cultural heritage, was adopted by Town Council on Oct. 4.

Secondary plans are prepared to allow for more detailed area- or issue-based planning in newly developed areas. This may also include other areas where specific concerns are identified such as public spaces, parks and urban design. They are part of the Official Plan and are subject to the full Official Plan Amendment process as a result.

The reason for the update to the plan was due to several local issues identified by Town staff and the Glen Williams Community Association that required further review.

The Town of Halton Hills has now begun developing a Cultural Heritage Master Plan (CHMP) as the GWSP Review project comes to a close. This plan will provide the tools to identify, protect and celebrate the Town’s cultural heritage resources.
