Halton Regional Police are searching for two suspects after they allegedly approached a female driver holding handguns in an attempted carjacking in the early hours of Sunday morning (May 7) in Oakville.

Police say the incident occurred around 1 a.m. The victim was heading westbound on Highway 407 in their blue SUV Range Rover when they noticed they were being followed by another vehicle.

The driver of the Ranger Rover got off highway at the Neyagawa Blvrd. exit, but was followed by the vehicle with the suspects.

The woman got out of her vehicle and ran to a residence nearby.

Police said the suspects then got in the victim’s vehicle, before discovering the victim had taken the key fob for the Ranger Rover with her.

“(The) suspects then returned to their vehicle and fled the scene without stealing the victims vehicle,” said Anderson.

Police describe the two suspects as while males who are approximately 20 years of age. Both were wearing black jackets and black face masks.

No one was injured during the incident.
