Gunpoint robbery of jewelry store leads to search for suspect in Oakville

Police are searching for a male suspect after a jewelry store was robbed at gunpoint in Oakville.

The robbery happened on May 14 around 10 a.m. at National Jewellers on Lakeshore Road West, the Halton Regional Police Service says.

An employee was opening the business for the day when they were approached outside the business by a lone male suspect in possession of a handgun, police say.

The man then instructed the worker to open the door and obtained an undisclosed quantity of cash and jewelry from the store. The employee wasn’t physically injured, but their hands were then tied before the suspect fled the store on foot. Investigators recovered a black BB gun at the scene.

Police say the male suspect was wearing a black hoodie, black running shoes, beige pants, gloves and a baseball hat, and was carrying a backpack.
