Gunpoint robbery in Mississauga leads to firearm charges for Brampton man: police

Police have laid several firearms charges against a Brampton man after an alleged gun-point robbery on Monday (March 20).

Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the area of Dundas St. East and Hensall Circle in Mississauga around 11:45 p.m. on Monday.

Police say a 24-year-old man from Mississauga was held up at gunpoint and robbed.

Investigators identified a suspect and say police raided a residence near Kennedy Rd. and Vodden St. East in Brampton on Friday and recovered a Glock 17 handgun in the search.

Police say Carvel Purcell, 35, of Brampton was arrested and charged with robbery and numerous firearm-related offences.

He was held for a bail hearing and attended the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
