A Brampton highschool was put on a hold-and-secure order following reports of someone with a gun in the area.

Peel Regional Police say Fletchers Meadow Secondary School was put on a hold-and-secure as a precaution after receiving a call of someone seen with a gun in the area of Chinguacousy Rd. and Botavia Downs Dr. on Friday (Oct. 21) around 12:11 p.m.

Officers were on scene investigating the incident, and police said the hold-and-secure was lifted around 1:20 p.m. that after the reports of a gun were “unfounded.”

Back in March, Fletchers Meadow Secondary School was locked down after police said they received reports of a possible threat at the school after someone was seen at the school with a gun.

The weapon turned out to be a BB gun, and five youths were taken into police custody at the school and a sixth was arrested later at a residence in Brampton. No charges were laid in the incident.

A hold and secure is meant to prevent unauthorized persons from entering a school building when a potential threat arises in the area.
