While details are still sparse, the Niagara Police responded to a possible weapons call at a Niagara-on-the-Lake home yesterday (Jan. 29).

Police say at 2:55 pm, they were called to a home in the Niagara Stone Rd near Ann St area for a disturbance and were originally told a firearm might be involved.

Bringing in the Emergency Task Unit (ETU) and Crisis Negotiators, police descended on the house and shut down Anne St between Niagara Stone Rd and Simcoe St to keep the public at a distance.

In the end, one person was arrested but the police are holding back information, pending formal charges. The police stressed there was no threat to the public during the incident and that no one was injured.

The incident continues to be investigated and police noted that they are waiting on a search warrant for the home.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1009219.
