Gun and drug charges for Caledon teen after raid in Elliot Lake

Four people including an 18-year-old from Caledon are facing dozens of combined charges after an alleged drug bust in Elliot Lake.

Around 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday (April 25), the OPP says the community street crime team, organized crime unit and other officers searched a townhouse on Spruce Crt. in Elliot Lake, approximately 160 kilometres west of Sudbury.

Police say officers found a loaded 9mm handgun, a shotgun and around $1,200 in cash, as well as over 11 grams of suspected purple Fentanyl and approximately 1.5 grams of suspected cocaine.

Investigators also recovered a digital scale, debt list, packaging material, and seven cell phones during the search, police said.

Four people were arrested and charged by the OPP, including an 18-year-old from Caledon.

Karen Lynn Beaton, 49, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Braydon Pittman-Beacock, 18, of Caledon was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Myranda Francoeur, 28, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

Brett Ottaway, 25, of Etobicoke was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Tampering with serial number of a firearm
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court in Blind River on April 26. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
