Guard charged after smuggled goods found at Ontario prison

A corrections officer from Mississauga has been arrested following an investigation into contraband at a prison in Milton, Ontario.

Halton Regional Police say the charges were filed following a months-long investigation at the Maplehurst Correctional Complex.

Police say the investigation focused on a guard who is alleged to have smuggled goods into the facility.

“As a result of the investigation, on March 19, 2026, Adrian Deonarine (33) of Mississauga, was charged with one count of Breach of Trust by Public Officer,” said police.

Deonarine was released on an undertaking with a future court date in Milton.
