The 14-year-old Grimsby teen who was struck by a black H3 Hummer SUV being driven by a 17-year-old girl on Jan. 30 has been released from the hospital and is now recuperating at home.

That is a welcome shift from the original assessment of her condition after the accident, which was described by Niagara Police as “life threatening injuries.”

Both the victim and the driver are students at West Niagara Secondary School.

The original collision between the teen pedestrian and the truck closed a stretch of Livingston Ave. for most of the day.

Police is still investigating the cause of the accident. Anyone who might have witnessed this incident or have information is asked to contact NRPS detectives (905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009170).
