It was two weeks for fantastic entertainment from across every province and territory for people in Niagara but the final show for the 13-for-13 Festival hits Grimsby tomorrow (August 20) from 4 pm to 10 pm at the Grimsby Peach King Centre (162 Livingston Ave).

Grimsby partnered up with Prince Edward Island for the last show before the closing ceremonies in Niagara Falls on Sunday.

The unique 13-for-13 Festival has paired each of Niagara’s 12 municipalities, as well as the region, up with a Canadian province or territory from which they have to draw entertainment as part of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games celebrations.

Grimsby is pretty excited about their provincial pairing, saying, “Come enjoy the taste and experience of Prince Edward Island in Grimsby’s backyard! Experience live music, interactive vendors, and onsite chefs preparing classics from the east coast, as well as local delicacies.”

“Enjoy a drink from your local Bench and Forty Creek brewery, the PEI Brewing Company, and delve into the best of the best from the island, or try both!”

The Grimsby-PEI partnership is the first in the nearly-finished 13-for-13 Festival that has featured beer from the sponsor province.

But food seems to be a focal point for this get-together tomorrow as famed PEI chef Robert Pendergast will be doing culinary samplings three separate times – 4:30 pm, 5:45 pm and 6:46 pm.

But there will be plenty of music because at 5 pm, Cynthia MacLeod, one of Prince Edward Island’s finest ambassadors of traditional music, will bring her distinct style of fiddling to the stage.

Then at 6:15 pm, MacLeod and Pendergast will join forces for a lesson in downhome Square Dancing. “Grab your partner and swing them round at an authentic PEI kitchen party – there won’t be another event like this one!” said Grimsby.

At 7:45 pm, Andrew Waite & The Firm hit the stage with their folksy vocals and high-powered instrumentals.

Finally, at 8:45 pm, headliners The Richard Wood Trio bring their traditional-born, fiery brand of Celtic music to close out the evening.

Famed PEI chef Robert Pendergast will be in Grimsby as will beers from the PEI Brewing Co.
