Renowned superstar chef Gordon Ramsay put his soccer skills to the test during an episode his MasterChef TV show filmed right here in Brampton.
Ramsay, perhaps equally well-known for his hot temper as his food, brought the cooking competition to Brampton for an episode called “World Cup Cookoff,” where contestants from around the world were tasked with feeding hungry kids.
The episode was filmed at the Brampton Soccer Centre where Ramsey played goal and took shots from local children before a team challenge that wasn’t without some drama. Over 100 local students and 40 youth athletes took part in the event, which also featured U.S. World Cup coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Team challenges tend to be some of the most stressful and intense episodes of MasterChef, and hiccups included a small fire and under-cooked dishes, which led to a classic Ramsey tongue lashing.

“It’s still pink, for (expletive deleted) sake,” Ramsey says to one team while inspecting their dishes, to the shock of the students nearby. “Put your hands over your ears,” he tells the kids.
Ramsay had dreams of being a professional soccer player before finding success in the kitchen, and Ramsey has said skills he learned on the pitch like teamwork and persistence helped him through his career as a chef – skills that have propelled him to eight Michelin stars and a crossover career in entertainment.
“Productions like this help tell Brampton’s story on a national stage, position Brampton as a destination for film and entertainment, drive economic development and create memorable experiences for our residents,” the city says of the MasterChef episode. “Thank you to the students, youth athletes, City staff, community groups and film crews who helped make this moment possible.”
