All six Mississauga Goodlife Fitness locations will be falling in line with Ontario’s new rules regarding proof of vaccination.

The decision comes after the fitness chain announced in July that it would not require members or onsite workers to be vaccinated.

Since that initial proclamation, operators of Goodlife have come under intense pressure on social media to adhere to the health protocols in an effort to keep all users safe.

Yesterday’s announcement by Premier Doug Ford appears to have sealed the deal to reverse course and now Goodlife says that all locations across the province will require proof of vaccine starting September 22.

The gym likely doesn’t have much choice.

Under the new measures announced by Ford businesses that don’t comply could face fines or even closure. Initially bylaw officers will educate and issue warnings to offending parties but will step-up the punishment by October for those who don’t comply with the new regulations.

A memo sent out to Goodlife staff today says that all members will be required to show either a paper or digital copy of their vaccination receipt until the official government app become available.

“If you are unvaccinated, you cannot work out at Goodlife or any other gym,” the memo states.

The new rules that will come into play in Ontario do not mandate workers to be vaccinated and Goodlife has not indicated if it will require staff to provide proof of receiving both doses.
