Good Samaritan rescues elderly man from house fire north of Brampton

OPP have commended the efforts of a resident who saved an elderly man from a house fire in the town of Grand Valley, situated north of Brampton.

Shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Thursday (March 2), Dufferin OPP responded to the fire on Gier Street along with the Grand Valley and Orangeville fire departments.

There was one person in the home, an elderly resident, at the time of the fire.

“Thankfully due to the heroic actions of a neighbour, the elderly male was rescued from the home,” said OPP. “The male was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.”

The Ontario Fire Marshal has investigated and deemed the fire non-suspicious, but the cause has not been disclosed.

OPP are urging anyone who witnessed the fire and wants to speak to victim services to contact Caledon/Dufferin Victim Services at 905-951-3838.
