GO trains will not run in Mississauga, parts of Toronto and Oakville the next three weekends as crews continue work to replace a century-old railway bridge.
The trains will be taken out of service all day this Saturday and Sunday on the normally busy Lakeshore West line between Aldershot GO station in Burlington and Exhibition GO just west of downtown Toronto, transit officials said in an update on Wednesday morning.
During that time, regularly scheduled Lakeshore West trains will only run between Niagara Falls and Aldershot GO, Metrolinx, the provincial agency that oversees GO Transit, added.
Some GO trains will, however, run between Exhibition GO and Union Station in downtown Toronto.
For people looking to access GO trains in west Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington and Hamilton on Saturday and Sunday, GO buses will be available instead to take riders to Bramalea GO for connection to eastbound train service on the Kitchener line to Union Station.
The replacement buses will operate at West Harbour (Hamilton), Aldershot, Burlington, Oakville and Clarkson GO stations to take customers where they want to go, Metrolinx said.
The transit agency also noted there will be no GO Transit service at all to or from Appleby, Bronte, Port Credit, Long Branch and Mimico stations. Customers traveling to and from those stations are encouraged to use alternative local transit options like the TTC, MiWay and other options.
There will also be some late-night service adjustments on Friday. Regular service will resume on Monday.
Similar GO train shutdowns are also scheduled for the weekends of Dec. 13-14 and Dec. 20-21, Metrolinx said.

Metrolinx said in its email update the train service is being temporarily shut down once again to allow “critical track work that will bring faster, more frequent service across the network” to be completed.
Crews are working to fully replace the Etobicoke Creek bridge, which at more than 100 years old is nearing the end of its useful life, the agency added.
“The goal is to replace the bridge structure this winter,” transit officials said, adding “this rehabilitation work is critical to maintaining safe and reliable service on the Lakeshore West line.”
