GO train service altered as track work impacts Toronto and Mississauga

Transit riders in Mississauga, Toronto and elsewhere along the Lakeshore West GO train line are being advised of temporary service changes — including the shutting down of trains — while track work is completed the second weekend in September.

The planned track work is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 13 and the following day, officials at Metrolinx, the provincial agency that runs GO Transit, said in an online update this week.

In addition, some late-night service adjustments will impact passengers on Friday, Sept. 12, officials added.

While the Sept. 13-14 work is completed on the tracks, GO buses instead of trains will run between Oakville and Clarkson GO and “then direct between Clarkson GO and Union Station (downtown Toronto) as we carry out track maintenance work to bring future, frequent service to Lakeshore West,” Metrolinx said in its update.

The agency added there will be no GO Transit service at Port Credit, Long Branch or Mimico GO stations while the work is taking place.

Furthermore, trains will operate between Exhibition GO and Union Station on a special schedule over the two days.

Transit officials say local transportation options including MiWay in Mississauga and the TTC in Toronto will be available to help riders complete their trips.

Metrolinx urges people who plan to use GO Transit while the track work is being completed check updated schedules online before setting out on their journey.

The Lakeshore West line serves GO passengers in Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton and areas farther west toward Niagara.
