Faster trains on Milton GO line will help Mississauga commuters

Commuters will want to make sure to arrive early to catch the GO Train.

Starting today (Jan. 9) GO train doors will close one minute before scheduled departure times, a Metrolinx spokesperson tells insauaga.com.

GO Transit announced the change on the public address system — digital signs in GO stations, GO Transit’s On the GO alerts, and onboard train announcements — starting on Jan. 2 but for those who have been away, this may come as a surprise.

The change won’t impact UP Express or GO buses.

Closing the door one minute early will help trains arrive at their next stop on time, Metrolinx said.

Platforms without accessibility ramps will close first, followed by the accessible platforms.

Doors will close one minute prior to departure at the following stations:

  • Union Station
  • Durham College Oshawa GO
  • Old Elm GO
  • Allandale GO
  • London GO
  • Kitchener GO
  • Niagara Falls GO
  • West Harbour GO
  • Hamilton GO Centre
  • Bloomington GO
  • Milton GO

GO will be closely monitoring customer feedback, the spokesperson says.
