Global dessert shop opens first location in Canada in Mississauga

A Turkish dessert shop with locations around the world has opened its first location in Mississauga.

Helvaci Ali opened at 3535 Odyssey Dr., Unit 89 in Ridgeway Plaza in July.

The location is the first in Canada for the shop that has more than 200 branches in nearly 70 cities in Turkey and the world, according to their website. There are shops in Dubai, Iraq, Greece, Kuwait, Azerbaijan Baku, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Jordan, Qatar, Oman and Germany.

Helvaci Ali specializes in semolina helva, a classic sweet treat in Turkey.

The Mississauga location offers helva in lotus biscoff, chocolate, walnut and pistachio flavours. It can be served with Turkish ice cream.
