A bubble tea shop with locations around the globe is coming to Milton.

Gong Cha Tea, founded in Taiwan is 2006, but now with 1,800 shops world-wide, has found its new home at 252 Main St. E at Charles St. sharing its address with Arirang Hotdog. Both are expected to open in the new year.

The name Gong Cha derives from a phrase that translates into “tribute tea for the emperor” and the company believes its product is not just meant for royalty, but for the residents of Milton as well.

Known for its signature milk foam with a creamy sweet and savoury balance, Gong Cha combines its whipped texture with freshly brewed tea to create its unique blend of drinks that come in a variety of styles and flavours. Each tea is created from scratch for each customer.

As well, Gong Cha promises that its tea is brewed fresh throughout the day as are the pearls (bubbles) which give bubble tea its distinct taste and texture. All tea is sourced from Taiwan.

Along with its signature bubble tea, Gong Cha also has an extensive menu of other beverages, including a variety of tea flavours, coffee, fruit-based slush drinks and lattes with toppings that range from the exotic such as Oreo crumbs and coconut jelly to traditional bubble tea toppings.

Prices vary depending on ingredients, but most fall between the $6 and $8 range.
