A man has been charged with reckless driving-related offences in Brampton after striking a 15-year-old girl who later died in hospital.
Peel Regional Police say the crash, involving two vehicles, happened shortly after 8 p.m. last night near Mclaughlin Road and Horwood Drive.

While the Major Collision Bureau continues its investigation, police believe a Honda Civic was travelling northbound on McLaughlin Road and in the middle of turning left onto Horwood Drive when a southbound moving Volkswagen hit the vehicle.
“The impact of the collision caused the Volkswagon to spin and hit the sidewalk on the southwest side of the intersection, striking the victim who was walking with a friend,” Officer Richard Chin of Peel Police said.
The victim’s friend suffered minor injuries, which were treated at the scene by paramedics.
The 15-year-old was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
Investigators have identified the Honda Civic driver as Mandeep Singh, 36, of Mississauga. He has been charged with several driving offences, including refusal to comply with a demand for a breath sample, dangerous operation causing death, and making an unsafe turn.
Singh was held for a bail hearing.
The intersection of the crash was closed for several hours, but the roads have since reopened to the public.
“And as a reminder, it does appear that alcohol was a contributing factor to this tragic incident. I would emphatically remind everyone to please do not drink and drive,” Chin emphasized.
Individuals who have been drinking are advised to have a plan to get home, whether that is a designated driver, public transportation or taxi.
“Our thoughts and prayers are, of course, with the victim and her family,” Chin said.
