Brampton residents now have another option for driver testing and licensing services with the opening of a new DriveTest Centre.

The new facility expands access to testing in one of Ontario’s fastest-growing cities, where residents previously had just one DriveTest location serving the entire community.

Located at Shoppers World Brampton, the centre is expected to provide a more convenient option for residents in the city’s south end while helping ease demand at the existing DriveTest facility on First Gulf Boulevard.

DriveTest, which operates driver examination centres on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Transportation, provides a range of licensing and testing services for new and experienced drivers.

At the Brampton location, which opened this week, customers can complete vision tests, written knowledge exams and road tests for a variety of vehicle classes, including passenger vehicles, motorcycles and commercial vehicles.

New drivers seeking a G1 licence can take the written knowledge test on a walk-in basis, while G2 and full G road tests are available by appointment. The exams assess skills such as highway driving, lane changes, parking and other essential driving maneuvers.

The opening comes as Brampton continues to experience significant population growth, increasing demand for government and licensing services. Until now, residents had relied primarily on the DriveTest Centre at 59 First Gulf Boulevard for road tests and licensing examinations.

The addition of a second location is expected to improve access for local drivers, reduce travel times for some residents and provide greater flexibility when booking tests.

The new site also benefits from its location within one of Brampton’s busiest commercial hubs. Shoppers World Brampton is accessible by several Brampton Transit routes and offers ample parking, making it easier for residents to reach the centre by transit or car.

While licence renewals and other provincial services continue to be available through ServiceOntario locations across Brampton, DriveTest centres are responsible for conducting driver examinations and issuing new driver’s licences.

Shoppers World Brampton officials previously described the new tenant as another step in expanding the range of services available at the mall.

The opening marks the first new DriveTest Centre in Brampton in years and provides residents with a long-awaited second location for driver testing services.
