Get ready for fireworks, music and food for Canada Day celebrations in Brampton

Canada Day is right around the corner and the City of Brampton is getting ready to celebrate the nation’s 156th birthday with live music, games, and a spectacular fireworks display.

July 1 falls on a Saturday this year, July 1 and the City has a fun-filled day of performances and activities planned for Canada Day.

The celebration starts at 12:00 p.m. in Chinguacousy Park with family-friendly activities and games, inflatable rides and slides, and local retailers and food vendors on-site. Chinguacousy Park amenities will be open during the day, including playgrounds, the skateboard park, paddle boat rentals, splash pads, mini golf, and the Mini-Moo Farm.

Then starting at 6:00 p.m., guests are invited to the Concert Zone for an evening of live from the main stage hosted by media personality and entrepreneur Jesse Jones.

The night will kick off with a Healing Song and a Land Acknowledgement before international touring and award-winning rockers Wicked Truth and JUNO award winners and Indigenous artists Digging Roots take the stage.

Closing out the show will be the namesake band of the Blue Rodeo singer and songwriter Jim Cuddy, best known for their hits like “Til I Am Myself Again” and “Lost Together.”

And finally, the night will cap off at 10:00 p.m. with a fireworks show presented by Tim Hortons to commemorate Canada’s birthday.

Brampton Transit will be running free shuttle services every 30 minutes starting at 12:00 p.m. from the Mount Pleasant GO Station, Trinity Common Mall, Sheridan College and Gore Meadows Community Centre.

Limited parking will be available on-site for $20 per vehicle on a first-come, first-served basis by debit and credit card only.
