Couples looking for a unique way to say “I do” this summer can once again get married during the Brampton Farmers’ Market.
The City of Brampton is bringing back its popular civil marriage ceremonies, giving couples the chance to exchange vows downtown during three special market dates.
Limited ceremony spots are available on July 25, Aug. 29 and Sept. 26, offering an intimate alternative to a traditional wedding.
The marriage ceremonies have been part of the Brampton Farmers’ Market since 2022.
“Enhanced by the vibrance of downtown Brampton, getting married downtown is an unforgettable start to a new life together,” the city says of the ceremonies.
Couples must obtain an Ontario marriage licence before the ceremony and register with the city. The civil ceremony costs $250, not including the cost of the marriage licence.
Applications must be made in person at Brampton City Hall. Marriage licence appointments can be booked through the city’s online portal or by visiting City Hall between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday to Friday.
The ceremonies take place alongside the Brampton Farmers’ Market, which runs every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Oct. 10.
This year’s market operates from a new location, stretching along Main Street South from Queen Street to Wellington Street and along Queen Street East from Main Street to Chapel Street. Visitors can shop for fresh produce, prepared foods, locally made products and handcrafted goods while supporting local farmers, artisans and small businesses.
With only a limited number of ceremony spots available on each date, couples interested in tying the knot at the market are encouraged to register early.
