Kids and teens in need of after school activities can get free care and learn valuable skills with the After YOU-th program in Brampton.

The free after school care program is open to youths between the ages of 12 and 18 years old and puts a focus on physical activity, life skills and youth leadership.

With drop-in spots available, After YOU-th runs weekly at the new Susan Fennell Sportsplex Youth Hub which opened last year as a safe and inclusive space for Brampton’s youth to connect and includes access to recreation, employment and career services, mental health supports and much more.

The city says After YOU-th offers youths a chance to interact with a variety of sports, e-sports, and games as well as mental and physical wellness activities, leadership and life skills workshops, mentorship and support from staff and peers.

Some upcoming programs at the Youth Hub include a Girls Wellness Night, a cooking basics course, a free employment workshop and an eSports mini tournament.

The city is already working on a second youth hub planned at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre which is currently in design with an anticipated opening in the fall of 2024.

Brampton also brought back its free Explore Brampton Youth Pass program last year with 2,000 youth transit and summer drop-in recreation passes up for grabs.
