Mississauga movie theatre re-opens

Halton Hills residents are invited to an Indigenous film series that will take place throughout the month of June at the John Elliott Theatre (JET) in Georgetown.

The series will include screenings of Indigenous films including Run Woman Run, a comedy featuring a single mother named Beck, who learns how to honour her life and reclaim her dreams and family, thanks to the help of an unlikely coach.

Run Woman Run will be showcased on June 23 at 7:00 p.m.

The two other films in the series include From Wisconsin with Love, a story about what the community was fighting for from the perspective of Anishinabe prophecy and practice and what happened next and Stories from Land Back Camp, about the space around a large tepee that was transformed into a camp of queer, Two-Spirit, trans, and/or non-binary youth learning and practicing their Indigenous cultural heritages and demanding Land Back.

From Wisconsin with Love will be showcased on June 30 at 7:00 p.m. and followed by Stories from Land Back Camp.

Residents are invited to join the community before the screenings to enjoy refreshments, table displays and activities.

Free tickets and a $10 embroidery and beading DIY kit can be picked up from the box office.
