An athlete from Georgetown has been nominated to represent Team Canada in snowboard at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games.

22-year-old Jasmine Baird is one of 19 snowboarders that have been nominated by Canada Snowboard and the Canadian Olympic Committee.

In 2017, Baird began competing on the Nor-Am Cup circuit and ranked third overall in slopestyle. In 2017- 2018, she won three gold medals in six events and earned the overall Nor-Am Cup title for slopestyle.

Baird also competed in her first World Cup event back in March 2017 and earned a top-10 finish in slopestyle.

All 19 riders were qualified for Team Canada based on their performances across the Olympic Qualification window, with all of them having hit a top-10 or better result in a World Cup or major international event.

Snowboard will take place from Feb. 5 to Feb. 15 at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing.
