An athlete from Georgetown who was nominated to represent Team Canada in women’s snowboard at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games, has finished seventh in the big air final.

22-year-old Jasmine Baird is one of 19 snowboarders that were nominated by Canada Snowboard and the Canadian Olympic Committee to compete.

Baird finished seventh on the last day of snowboard, which was Feb. 15.

In 2017, Baird began competing on the Nor-Am Cup circuit and ranked third overall in slopestyle. In 2017- 2018, she won three gold medals in six events and earned the overall Nor-Am Cup title for slopestyle.

Baird also competed in her first World Cup event back in March 2017 and earned a top-10 finish in slopestyle.

All 19 riders were qualified for Team Canada based on their performances across the Olympic Qualification window, with all of them having hit a top-10 or better result in a World Cup or major international event.

Snowboard took place from Feb. 5 to Feb. 15 at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou and at the Big Air Shougang in Beijing.
