Nani’s Gelato, which has been serving a loyal customer base since first offering up its tasty frozen desserts in Toronto two years ago, is opening in Mississauga later this month.

The popular Asian, Indian and Italian gelato shop, which began as a food truck business in 2019 before moving to its current Toronto storefront location on Charles St. E. last year, will open a Mississauga shop in the next few weeks at 6039 Erin Mills Pkwy. in Meadowvale, just north of Britannia Rd.

Company officials say the Mississauga location will quadruple production capacity, “and we will be able to better meet the demand of our amazing customers.”

They were initially to open in Mississauga this past July, but plans were delayed. An exact opening date is not yet known. Nani’s owner said only that the new gelato shop will open by the end of the month.

Nani’s, named for the owners’ grandmothers who were big influences on them, makes a variety of gelato flavours and sorbettos that include both dairy and non-dairy (vegan) options. They rotate 100 flavours each season in their shop.

Nani’s specializes in producing Asian, Indian and Italian gelato flavours, and it makes all its gelato products daily from scratch, using fresh ingredients.

The company says a unique feature of Nani’s is that it produces its own gelato base using a pasteurization machine from Italy specifically designed for gelato production.
