Drivers in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills may want to hit the gas pump before this weekend.

Despite gas prices already hitting record numbers due to inflation, average gas prices are expected to climb another eight or nine cents a litre for Saturday.

Dan McTeague, gas analyst and President, Canadians for Affordable Energy recommends drivers fill up Thursday and Friday.

“Unless markets make a dramatic shift, today and tomorrow will be the best days to fill up (at) the tank across most of Canada,” McTeague tweeted out Thursday.

Gas prices rose by a penny on Thursday in most cities and towns across the province, including Oakville. The cost now to fill up is now $1.58.9 per litre for regular gas in Oakville.

Cost of filling up on premium in Oakville is $183.9 per litre, while diesel is $1.69 per litre.

Sudbury residents woke up Thursday to a four cent hike. The cheapest spot to fill the tank on regular was Peterborough at $155.9 cents per litre.
