Gas prices going up to $2.10 in Mississauga, Brampton, Pickering and the GTA

Drivers throughout the GTA, including Mississauga and Brampton, should be ready for a major increase in the price of gas.

Gas prices are expected to hit 199.9 cents per litre tomorrow (May 8), but one gas price expert doesn’t think they’ll stop there.

Dan McTeague, president of Canadians for Affordable Energy and a former Pickering MP, believes gas prices could go up another 10 cents in the coming weeks, hitting $2.10 by the end of the month.

The cause of the rising costs is primarily due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with the EU recently deciding to stop importing Russian gas by the end of the year.

While prices are expected to remain high for a while, McTeague says there’s a chance Russian forces could retreat in Ukraine soon, which would cause a drop in prices.
