Those who are planning to hit the road this weekend may want to wait until Saturday to fuel up.

The average price of gas on Saturday, Sept. 17 is expected to drop to 148.9 cents per litre — among the lowest prices of 2022.

The 3-cent drop is predicted by gas analyst Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, for cities across the GTA and much of southern Ontario.

The expected decrease would return gas prices to what they were on Thursday after they briefly rose today, Sept. 16.

Prices have been declining steadily since August, in part due to the falling price of crude oil and also because of lower U.S. refining margins.

Earlier in September, the October U.S. crude contract was trading at US$86.61 per barrel, its lowest level since late January.

For drivers who need to fuel up today (Sept. 16), here’s where to find the cheapest gas according to GasBuddy:

Mississauga:

Shell (780 South Sheridan Way) 136.9¢

Brampton:

Ultramar (2956 Queen St E) 141.5¢
