Gas prices expected to drop considerably this weekend in Mississauga, Brampton and other Ontario cities

It’s a turbulent weekend for gas prices, which saw a major increase today but are expected to drop again on Sunday.

Prices at the pump will fall by five cents to a high of 175.9 cents per litre for most of the GTA and southern Ontario, including the cities of Mississauga, Brampton and Hamilton.

The price drop will bring “modest relief” to drivers this weekend, said Dan McTeague of Canadians for Affordable Energy, a group that monitors fuel prices across the country.

It comes after gas prices rose for multiple days up to 180.9 cents per litre on Saturday — a 20-cent hike in just four days.

Prices have fluctuated wildly in the past several weeks due to several factors including demand, internal conflicts and weather such as hurricanes.

So, if you’re looking to fuel up this weekend, waiting until Sunday may be your best bet.
