Save at the pumps as gas prices dropping for switch to winter blend in Ontario

Expect a bit of relief at the pumps heading into the weekend as gas prices in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara and beyond could drop by a nickel on Friday.

According to gaswizard.ca, Friday will see a drop of about 5 cents at gas stations across the GTA, following a similar 4-cent reduction on Thursday.

Prices are expected to hover just below $1.41 per litre for premium gas on Friday in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Niagara, Oakville, and Ottawa, among other municipalities. Premium gas will be on for around $1.71 per litre, and diesel for around $1.93 per litre.

The price cut follows a spike at the pumps ahead of Christmas. Rising prices in 2022 hit a high in June when they peaked at almost $2.15/litre. The cheapest prices were seen on Dec. 10 when they dropped to $1.33 per litre.

Back in November, prices were at an average of 168.9 cents in the GTA and cheaper outside of the Toronto area.
