A small fire that broke out in a garage Wednesday (Aug. 10) night was quickly extinguished.

The fire at a residence on Great Oak Trail was nearly knocked down by a neighbour as fire crews arrived, said Ryan Coburn, Hamilton Fire Department assistant deputy chief.

The cause of the fire might have been welding work being done in the garage, Coburn said.

There were no injuries, and damage is estimated at $80,000.
