Residents are being asked for their input on the future of bike lanes in Brampton through multiple public meetings and an online survey.
The City of Brampton is exploring design options to enhance safety and comfort for cyclists on around seven kilometres of bike lanes along Howden Boulevard.
The bike lanes are part of the east-west cycling route across Brampton, linking the destinations like the downtown, Duggan Park, Century Gardens Recreation Centre and Chinguacousy Park, and will connect with trails like Etobicoke Creek, Esker Lake and Chinguacousy Recreational Trails.
But the city is looking for input from residents to improve safety for both pedestrians and cyclists, maintain safe bike lanes year-round, and better understand potential impacts on traffic flow.
“As part of the planning process, residents are invited to attend upcoming in-person sessions or complete an online survey to share their feedback,” the city says in a release.
The online survey is open to the public until Aug. 7, while the first of four public info sessions starts on July 23.
Late last year, Brampton MP and Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria said the province was considering new rules for future bike lanes, and Brampton Ward 7/8 Councillor Rod Power posted a letter stating his support for the province’s plans.
