The funeral for Kaitlyn Pollock, who died May 17 when the e-scooter she was operating was struck by a truck in north Oshawa, will be Thursday at McIntosh-Anderson Funeral Home in Oshawa.

Heartfelt messages have been pouring in to the Tribute Wall page at the funeral home from friends, family and even former teachers who all remembered her positive spirit and her love of laughter.

Angela Prentice, Kaitlyn Pollack’s aunt, penned a poem on the wall which gave voice to the sorrow being felt by friends and family of the young woman:

For KK

The world doesn’t stop turning
Just because you’re not in it.
The sun still rises,
The birds still sing.
If broken hearts could stop the world from turning,
this would be the one.
Love for you did not die with you,
You are in every heartbeat and every breath.
You are the blood in our veins and the air that we breathe.
You are the stars in the night sky,
The wind on our face and in our hair.
You live because we live.
Today, tomorrow and always,
We will be loving you.

Pollack, 20, was riding one of the e-scooters the City of Oshawa has recently provided under a pilot project when she was struck by a pick-up truck turning out a gas station near Harmony and Taunton roads.

She was pronounced dead at hospital.

The daughter of Rick and Kim Pollock and sister of Blake will be laid to rest at 11 a.m. Thursday at the King St. E. funeral home. Visitation is today (Wednesday) from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.

Donations in memory of Kaitlyn to your favourite charity would be appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at Kaitlyn Tribute Wall
