Fugitive known to frequent Hamilton arrested

A wanted man known to frequent Hamilton and Niagara Region has been arrested after nearly two months at large.

Moises Medeiros, 28, was convicted of possession of a restricted firearm and ammunition. He has been sentenced to a two-year jail term for his crime and is serving the tail end of it in the community as part of his statutory release.

However, the OPP says Medeiros has broken the terms of this statutory release. They started a manhunt for him through their Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Squad on Jan. 2.

Medeiros was known to frequent the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, St. Catharines and the larger Niagara Region.

On April 3, the OPP confirmed Medeiros had been arrested once again in Welland.
