Sharon Baksh, 45, is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

The woman convicted of stabbing an Oshawa senior to death has been arrested in Brampton after more than a month on the run.

The OPP says Sharon Baksh breached her statutory release on July 26 while serving a seven-year and eight-month sentence for manslaughter.

Court documents show that 45-year-old Baksh pleaded guilty to the 2013 killing of Oshawa senior Alletta Rusnell, stabbing the 89-year-old victim more than 140 times after breaking into the Rusnell’s apartment.

Police issued a Canada-wide warrant for Baksh and said last week that she is known to frequent the Peel Region and Toronto areas, and the OPP said on Monday that was apprehended in Brampton.

The OPP thanked members of the public for their assistance in the investigation.

Anyone who has had contact with Baksh is asked to contact the Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad at 416-808-5900 or 1-866-870-7673 (ROPE). You can also contact Crime Stoppers anonymously by calling 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or visiting www.ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
