A frost advisory has been issued for Mississauga, Brampton, Burlington, parts of Niagara Region and much of southern Ontario.

Environment Canada put out the advisory on Thursday (Oct. 27) saying temperatures near or just below the freezing mark could result in patchy frost overnight into early Friday morning.

The agency is advising residents in the affected areas to cover up plants, especially those in frost-prone areas, and take precautions to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

Here are all the areas under the frost advisory, according to Instant Weather:

  • Mississauga
  • Brampton
  • Burlington
  • Toronto
  • Grimsby
  • Niagara Falls
  • Northern Niagara Region
  • Oakville
  • Southern Niagara Region
  • St. Catharines
  • Welland

Environment Canada says frost advisories are issued when temperatures are expected to reach the freezing mark during the growing season, leading to potential damage and destruction to plants and crops.
