Louanne’s Famous Fries is back!

The well-known and popular chip trailer will re-open at its new location on April 6 at 325 Guelph Street.

Louanne’s has been without a home since last fall when it had to leave its Trafalgar Rd. location. Another landing spot was found but that deal fell through.

The new location was found after an active search by owner Melissa Keith who will now be setting up in the lot where FreshCo is located in Georgetown.

“I am so beyond excited to open up for all of my amazing and lovely customers,” said Keith via social media. “I truly can’t wait to see all of you!”

The bright pink trailer had become something of a local landmark having reinvented itself a few times in almost 30 years and Georgetown residents who lamented its demise are now pleased with its return.

The response from fans has been quick and enthusiastic.

“Fantastic, I will be there the first day, can’t wait,” said one Facebook user.

Another said he has been going to Louanne’s for years and missed some of his comfort food favourites.

“Nothing like fresh-cut fries on the weekend,” said another Facebook fan.

Along with the favourite Newfie fries (covered with beef and gravy), Louanne’s also serves up such classics as burgers, hotdogs, sausages, peameal, chicken fingers and onion rings.

Hours of operation for Louanne’s will be noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and noon to 7 p.m. on weekends. The trailer will be closed on Monday and Tuesday.
