It didn’t take long for a bakery and cafe to get up and running in a Mississauga neighbourhood.

Just a few weeks ago, the operators of French Corner Bakery and Patisserie put up a sign announcing they would be arriving soon.

And, just at the beginning of this week, the storefront appeared to still be empty.

Today (June 12), it is open.

Tucked in between the Barn and the old veterinary office at 1661 Lakeshore Road West, this new Clarkson location is the second French Corner to open in Mississauga; the first has been operating at 1224 Dundas Street West.

A shop that specializes in pastries, cakes and bread, those familiar with French Corner say it is more than a bakery as it is often a place to meet friends where a warm latte can be enjoyed along with a croissant.

“It’s where a simple pastry can brighten someone’s day, and where stories unfold over shared bites, Whether it’s a quick stop or a lingering visit, we’re here to offer not just a taste of France, but a moment of togetherness,” the message posted on the bakery’s website.

Along with the wide array of breads and pastries, French Corner also offers a variety of drinks, including freshly brewed coffee, teas, and chilled beverages, as well as a selection of warm paninis, sandwiches, and hearty soups.

And there are plenty of dessert selections, too, such as cakes and gâteaux from rich chocolate to light fruit-filled creations.

Meanwhile, just down the road, another bakery is set to open this summer.

COBS Bread Bakery is currently preparing its operation at Clarkson Village Shopping Centre, 1865 Lakeshore Road West.
