People in Durham’s northernmost municipality have been warned to batten down the hatches in preparation for a freezing drizzle soon set to slick the streets.

Environment Canada released a weather warning shortly before 3 p.m. on January 9. They warned of an incoming system producing freezing rain across North Durham.

The rain is set to continue all afternoon ending this evening or early Tuesday morning.

The forecast said highways, roads, walkways and parking lots are expected to ice over and become slippery. Environment Canada reminded drivers to take it slow and leave plenty of space between cars.
