Some turbulent weather could start the week off with a hazardous commute.

A weather statement has been issued for a risk of freezing rain beginning this evening (Dec. 5) and ending by Monday morning.

The cause is a low pressure system that will track east across the Great Lakes today through Monday. The precipitation will begin as snow this afternoon, then become mixed with ice pellets or freezing rain this evening or overnight, according to the forecast.

Precipitation will change to rain overnight or early Monday morning. Periods of rain, which could be heavy at times, will continue throughout Monday.

More rain/flurries are expected later this week, particularly on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Temperature-wise, the middle of the week will hover around -4 degrees Celsius, but we’ll see an abnormally warm Monday and Saturday with a high of around 10 degrees Celsius.
