“Freedom” protestors coming to Pelham Friday afternoon

If it, in fact, happens, it looks like the “Freedom” protestors will converge at one of Pelham’s parks tomorrow (March 4) afternoon.
Leah Letford, Pelham’s communication coordinator, said the town was initially made aware of the potential protests from constituents who saw posts on social media.
“We are monitoring the situation in response to requests we’ve had from residents, following the posts on social media,” Letford told insauga. “Obviously, residents have concerns and we want residents to know we are working to have safe public places in the community.”
Letford said the town has been following the posts on social media just as residents are but couldn’t be certain which park or parks would be involved because “multiple locations” have popped up on social media.
“The situation seems very fluid at the moment.”
The four main parks in Pelham are Hillcrest Park, Hurleston Community Park, Lookout Park and Pelham Corners Park.
However, Letford made it clear that both the Niagara Police and the town’s bylaw officers will be watching any situation that arises.
While that doesn’t seem to be the case with previous ‘freedom’ protests, Letford noted, “Hopefully, it will be a calm and quiet situation.”
