A farm in Acton is bringing back free tours for the summer with the first one kicking off this weekend.

The self-guided tours will take place at Ovino, located at 7323 25 Side Rd. in Acton and will be available every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., beginning June 4.

The farm tour will feature a stroll through the lamb nursery and an opportunity to get up-close and personal with 300 little lambs.

Additionally, it will feature a chance to view a rotary milking parlour and see the milk processing facility where sheep milk products are crafted and shipped to stores throughout Canada.

Participants will also get to taste samples of sheep milk, sheep yogurt and a variety of artisan sheep milk cheeses as part of the tour.

“Here at Ovino, we are committed to educating our youth and believe everyone should have the opportunity to learn that our food is produced on a farm and is not just a product at the local grocery store,” said Jay Akras, Business Development Manager, Ovino.

“Our goal is to make sure that the farm tours are a good learning experience where people will have fun and build memories that will hopefully last forever.”

According to Ovino, sheep milk products, unlike goat milk, are similar to cow milk products in flavour while being naturally creamier and sweeter. They are also an alternative for people who are sensitive to cow milk, which is estimated to be around 70 per cent of Canadians.
