Summer playground programs are coming to a neighbourhood park near you beginning Monday, July 4.

Children aged 5 to 12 are invited to check out their local park this summer to take part in a fun, free summer camp experience. The drop-in Midway Nissan-sponsored Playground Program, in partnership with Their Opportunity, is run by trained leaders who provide interactive play opportunities such as games, songs and crafts for children daily throughout the summer.

“This is a great way to experience Oshawa’s beautiful parks – plus it’s completely free!” said Oshawa Mayor Dan Carter. “Come join our amazing playground program staff for a summer of family fun.”

Children can register at the playground location nearest their home on the first day they attend the program. Participants should wear sunscreen, a hat and bring a water bottle. A complete listing of park locations can be found at the Playground Program web page.

Should a playground program location continue to run during high heat it will be with an emphasis on passive games and activities in shade, with frequent breaks.
