Free senior's recreation memberships and Springfest Lunch and Expo coming to Brampton

The city is celebrating its golden anniversary in 2024 and Senior’s Month in June by inviting Brampton seniors to learn more about available services and free recreation passes.

Brampton is holding its 50th anniversary this year with events and promotions, including offering free Brampton Recreation passes for Senior’s Month with access to over 70 activities including fitness centre memberships, aquafit drop-in classes, dance programs and sports.

The city is also hosting the Springfest Lunch and Expo next month for seniors to learn about programs and services available in Brampton. The event will run at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre and will feature a buffet-style lunch, music, singing, dancing and entertainment provided by a live DJ.

Brampton Mayor Patrick called seniors “the backbone of our community” and said the free passes and events are “a token of (Brampton’s) appreciation.”

The new senior’s fitness initiative is an expansion of the city’s free swim, skate and walking track memberships offered to seniors 70 years old and up, but with many more options for users to choose from.

Free passes are available to Brampton residents who are 70 years old or older. Seniors will need to provide proof of residency in Brampton like a driver’s licence or a letter with a home address, proof of identity and age.

The program is only open to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

The city says making more programs available for seniors can improve their physical activity and better health, mental wellness, and emotional well-being.

Registration is required for the Springfest Lunch and Expo and tickets are $17.03 plus HST for residents and $22.14 plus HST for non-residents. You can sign up online or by calling 3-1-1.

The Springfest Lunch and Expo is on June 14 at the Century Gardens Recreation Centre with doors opening at 10 a.m. To register or to browse more events visit www.Brampton.ca.
